The Covenant
This year's theme is the Covenant, which is woven throughout the Old and New Testament scriptures. Starting with Noah and Abraham, there is a special relationship between God and all of humankind. The descendants of Abraham are known as God's people, receiving the Ten Commandments as the laws of the Covenant. Jesus comes to live among humankind to be the fulfilled Covenant in our midst. He lives out the demands of the Covenant, to love the Lord God with all one's heart, soul and strength. The Covenant is now between individuals and God. We are called to live up to the demands of the Covenant and remember that we are God's people.
AUGUST THEME: Noah's Ark
The Story of Noah's Ark reflects on the covenant that God made to man and animals that there will never again be a flood that destroys the whole earth. He also reminds us that we will always have food from planting and harvesting, changes in temperature, seasons, night and day. The rainbow is a reminder of God's covenant - a promise that will not be broken. He also wants us to covenant with him to be kind. God said that he created people to be like him. He agreed as to what he would or would not do and he wants us to do the same
